Pulaski County Master Gardener Core Class 2019

Introduction & Registration Day is August 20, 2019 at 6pm at the Waynesville Senior Center. 1401 Ousley Road, Waynesville, MO 65583.

The Pulaski County Master Gardeners will be holding a core training in the Fall of 2019. The class will begin on August 20, 2019 and go through to November 26, 2019.  Each session will be on a Tuesday night, and will be from 6pm to 9pm.

At the completion of the class, there will be a Graduation. This will be at the next official meeting after the completion of the course. Families will be welcome to the Graduation meeting.

To become trained as a Master Gardener, an individual must attend a 15 week program of classroom core training. Topics covered include the following: • Basic Botany • Pesticides and Pest Management •  Plant Diseases • Soils and Fertilizers • Turfgrass Management • The Vegetable Garden • Pruning Ornamental Plants • Composting • Woody Ornamentals • Native Plants • Weeds • Herbs • Annuals • Perennials • Growing Fruit at Home

Then, to become certified, the Master Gardener Trainee is required to give 30 hours of volunteer service back to his or her community in approved University of Missouri Extension activities within the next year. These volunteer hours can be accomplished in a variety of ways. You can write a column for a newspaper, attend a regular monthly meeting, help with a booth to promote Master Gardeners, or help during a work day at the Demonstartion garden.
