Become a Master Gardener

To become trained as a Master Gardener, an individual must attend a 30+ hour classroom core training.  Then, to become certified, the Master Gardener Trainee is required to give 30 hours of volunteer service back to his or her community in approved University of Missouri Extension activities in the next year.  After certifying, a Master Gardener gives at least 20 hours of service and completes 6 hours of continuing education per year.  A certified Master Gardener may attain an “advanced” status by completing thirty hours of advanced continuing education within a five year period.  Master Gardeners who have actively served for ten years or more are honored as Emeritus Master Gardeners.
